This week we continued on from where we left off last week. Last week we looked at the need to replace a bad habit with a new behaviour and to work with God to be transformed. To be transformed gives a new start while being reformed often replaces one negative habit with another.
This week we looked deeper in to Romans 12:1-2(NLT): Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Our focus was on the nature of habits – these are not consciously chosen behaviours, they are our default behaviours. Often, we react rather than respond with a chosen behaviour. We need to follow the direction of 2 Corinthians 10:5 and take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ. We need to think before we act, not act-think-repent! To change habits takes effort and practice – we need to rehearse, and practice transformed thinking to develop new godly habits. God Bless Pastor Greg
